This is Alana Terry

Welcome to I love Authors Interview 11. In this interview, we meet Alana Terry, author of What Dreams May Come which is currently on tour with Celebrate Lit from 8th-21st February – Let’s all give Alana a warm greeting.

What-Dreams-May-Come-Main-File

Alana, I’m so glad you are doing a blog tour with Celebrate Lit as it gives me an opportunity to get to know you better :). And what better way than to pretend we are on a desert island! So just ignore everything else and think sun, sea and solitude.

Alana – Thank you, Margaret, for this opportunity to share some time on your couch.

Let’s get on with the show then.

Alana Can you tell us..

Who would you like to be marooned on the island with and why?

Alana – My husband because we always have really invigorating discussions. Plus I’d miss him a ton if he weren’t around!

Ah, that’s sweet and of course, you would have lots of time for discussions while you wait to be rescued.

While on the island..

You are given one wish, but there is a clause which means you can only ask to be an animal. What creature would you like to be?

Alana – I’ve always loved elephants. I’m not sure how much I’d like to be one, but I sure wouldn’t mind trying!

That’s interesting Alana, as an elephant would be great at helping with the heavy work! So good choice.

From the books you have written..

You are allowed to invite another person to stay with you on the desert island, which of your characters would you choose and why?

Alana – What a fun idea! There’s a little boy named Woong from my novel Flower Swallow who is fun and mischevious and adorable, so I might want to have someone like that. Then again, my character Willow from the Kennedy Stern series is a super good friend, so I might enjoy having her for company.

I love the image you give of Woong, he sounds like a good companion to keep you on your toes! As you have your husband too Kennedy might cramp the camp!

The sun is beating down and..

The desert island is very hot, do you like hot or cold weather and which helps you focus on your writing better?

Alana – I live in Alaska and tend to melt if it gets over about 73 degrees. On the other hand, when my hands get too cold it’s hard to type. My favorite temperature would be between 55-65.

Yes, I empathise with you there, England is not known for its hot temperatures. I wilt easily!

And lastly, let’s talk about food..

You are allowed on a favourite meal on the island what would it be?

Alana – I’m kind of boring when it comes to favorite meals. It would probably either be ham and bean soup or stir-fry and rice. Like I said, not too inventive!

As you have been a delight to interview Alana, we will give you a box of ham and bean soup while you are stranded on the island – I know we are very generous!

Times up..

Thank you, Alana, for being such a good sport and playing along with the desert island theme. I hope you have a successful blog tour.

Let’s all show Alana our appreciation – (deafening applause ensues).

Thank you readers for coming over and reading I love Authors Interview 11.

She’s got her heart set on becoming a missionary. He’s determined to recruit her for the job.

But is it possible to fall in love with someone you’ve never even met?

Susannah’s convinced that God has called her to the mission field. That’s why she’s serving him with single-minded focus in Orchard Grove, waiting for the day when she can leave her small town to take the gospel to the nations.

Is falling in love with her missionary recruiter part of God’s plan for her life or a distraction from the real goal?

Scott

Scott loves his life. Traveling the globe, offering spiritual support to missionaries around the world offers enough excitement that the loneliness hardly ever gets to him …

Until he receives an application from a young girl with a heart for the mission field as large as his own, a young girl he finds himself falling for even before they get the chance to meet face-to-face.

Unfortunately, a promise Susannah made to her family may tear her and Scott even farther apart than the miles that separate them.

The first in the series

Book one in an inspirational sweet romance series by award-winning Christian author Alana Terry, who has won awards from Women of Faith, The Book Club Network, Grace Awards, and several others, What Dreams May Come is based off of the author’s own experiences falling in love with (and eventually marrying) her missionary recruiter.

Guest Post from Alana Terry

The cat’s out of the bag! Back in 2016, I wrote What Dreams May Come, a novel that was based on the way my husband and I fell in love … fourteen months before we ever met! It wasn’t until just before Christmas that I told Scott the romance novel I’d been writing was actually our true-to-life love story, and he was even more surprised than I hoped he’d be! Watch the video to see his reaction.

For over fifty years I have laughed and cried through my life – it has been exciting, exhausting, emotional, challenging and infuriating. No one gave me a map or a ‘How to get out of stressful situations’ manual, to help me on my journey. Instead, it has been God and me, His Word and my mistakes. So let’s cut to the chase, I am a wife and mother of three almost adult children! I live in the South of England and dislike the rainy climate. Yes, it looks green but so does my face with little sunshine! With many occupations under my belt, I now spend my time writing – for my blog which includes book reviews, interviews some humorous pieces and a book called "How to Make Victoria Sponge." I also have some devotionals in a multi-author book "Heartwings Devotional. My life is hectic; I am disorganised, and God continually sorts me out. I hope my words bring you hope, comfort and laughter as I sit here in my dining room praying for inspiration and for the cat to get off my laptop!

  1. Great interview with clever questions. I enjoyed finding out that Alana and I have a few things in common. I love elephants (okay, maybe she doesn’t, but she was willing to be one), I write Christian suspense, and my husband and I ended up, not ON a desert island together, but co-authoring a book about one (well, it was a jungle island). Alana, what caused you to turn to writing a romance series?

  2. What a dun interview with Alana Terry! It’s also interesting that she lives in a very cold climate, but you plopped her right down on the beach. Thank you for the interview and giveaway opportunity.
