Please give Tamera a warm welcome. We have an energetic audience today 🙂 Please sir sit down before you fall!

The desert island is waiting Tamera so let’s get on with the fun.

My first question is about food..

What food Tamara would you miss the most being on a desert island?

Tamera – That’s hard to say. I would miss chicken, potatoes, chocolate, and my Teavana teas. I’m not sure which to choose. I have a rare food allergy to folic acid, so I’m allergic to most fruits, vegetable, and nuts. Because of that, potatoes are essential for me to get the nutrients I’m missing. I do love potatoes, but is a life without tea and chocolate worth living? I’ll have to think on that one.

Gosh, that is unusual being allergic to folic acid. However, it seems you have found your way around it. I think we will leave you with a large bag of potatoes, for the duration of your stay on the island.

I hope you have an inspiring answer to my next question!

You find a piece of paper with a pencil left behind from the previous Author who was shipwrecked here. What encouraging message would you leave for the next cast away?

Tamera – I know you must be heartbroken to be shipwrecked, but it’s not all bad. I brought my Kindle with me and am already half way through my to be read books. That’s never happened before. I did have to read a book on how to charge a battery using seaweed and salt water though. Happy reading, and here’s hoping you don’t get rescued too soon.

How ingenious using seaweed and salt water to charge the battery 🙂 I wonder who wrote the book – Ivor Fixit Weed Seawater?

Onto something more serious now..

What favourite sentence do you like from your most recent published book?

Tamera – In Red Sky Over America, America is explaining to Ruth why she has to challenge her father about slavery. Here’s the quote: America lifted her head and faced Ruth. “Evil triumphs in this world because we don’t confront it. I’ve compromised by not proclaiming the truth.”

What wise and sad words but so true of humanity. The world would be a better place if we had the courage to proclaim the truth.

Tell me more about yourself..

I know you like writing but do you have another passion?

Tamera – I have a few other passions. I love music although I don’t play any musical instruments. Also, I love studying history. That’s where I get most of my stories. I love researching my family tree and seeing where my family fit in as well as enjoying classic movies. By classic, I mean 1930s through 1950s. Actors like Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, and Betty Davis have never been equaled in today’s culture. Those movies challenged us in a way that is missing today.

There’s only one other passion that rivals writing though. It is children’s ministry. I was a children’s pastor for 20 years. Now I am a children’s evangelist and consultant for a traveling ministry called Revival Fire for Kids.

So just a few passions then! It sounds like you have a busy life, Tamera. I agree those old movies are definitely classics and challenging. Often gentle in their delivery but packed with meaning and social probing. One of my favourites was Brief Encounter with Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson. You could feel the tension, chemistry and struggles they have.

I am afraid it is time for the last question..

To leave the island, you have to describe your main character in five words, can you tell me what they would be?

Tamera – Spiritually strong, intimidated, courageous, persistent. I’m not sure I want to leave the island though. I have a number of books on my Kindle I still have to read!

As you like the island so much perhaps we will leave and call back for you in a week or so. Butler, order another bag of potatoes for our guest.

What a lovely lady Tamera is. I think we must be making our island too comfy!

A huge round of applause for Tamera and here’s hoping you have a successful blog tour.

I love Authors Interview 27 has been fun even if we did lose our guest to the island. I hope you have enjoyed this post and will comment as such. Before you leave please read on for more about Tamera and her book and enter the GIVEAWAY.

Misty

This is Misty M. Beller

Welcome to I love Authors Interview 7 in this interview we meet Misty Beller, author of This Treacherous Journey which is currently on tour with Celebrate Lit from 3rd-16th February – Let’s all give Misty a warm greeting.

Hi, Misty, it’s a pleasure to have you sitting on my couch today here at I love Authors.

Misty – Thank you, Margaret.

So Misty, I hope you are up for a little imaginary jaunt as I would like you to picture yourself on a desert island. This means we are going back to basics!

Misty – Sounds like fun.

Great, my first question is..

What food would you miss the most being on a desert island?

Misty – Mountain Dew! I know it’s not technically a food, but it’s my daily staple.

Hang on I’ll have to look that up as I’ve not heard of it before. Oops, I can’t as we are on a desert island and have no internet! I am assuming that it a drink as you say technically it is not a food. Am I right?

Misty – Yes you’re right, perhaps you don’t have it in England.

We might but I’ve just not heard of it. Oh, am I advertising?

My next question is..

You are allowed to invite another person to stay with you on the desert island, which of your characters would you choose and why?

Misty – Hmm… Well, Simeon would keep me alive and well, no matter what it took. So he might be the one to choose! On the other hand, Emma, the heroine from This Treacherous Journey, is smart and caring and a great person to have on your side. If I didn’t have to worry about staying alive, I’d bring Emma. Can I just bring them both? ?

Well as you asked so nicely, how can I refuse. Let’s throw away the budget and say yes!

On the island, you have time to think, although I am not sure you will with both Simeon and Emma!

Can you tell me why you decided to become a writer?

Misty – I’ve always LOVED reading, but never really thought I could be a writer. Finally, I added “Write a Novel that’s Published” to my bucket list. I knew if I didn’t start then, I might never. Once I started that first book, I realized I love it! Now, I write full time and thank God every day for this blessing He’s given me!

It certainly is a blessing Misty and I am so happy for you that you are able to write full time.

It’s time to talk about the weather – yes, I know we Brits love that subject!

The desert island is very hot, do you like hot or cold weather and which helps you focus on your writing better?

Misty – I love to see cold weather and to write about it, but honestly, I don’t actually like to be cold. If I can sit inside by a warm fire and look out at the snowy mountains, that would be perfect!!

Perhaps you ought to come to England where you can see lots of cold and wet weather to spare – my favourite place is by a warm fire too!

Now you have a chance to leave my island..

In order to do so, you have to describe your main character in five words, can you tell me what they would be?

Misty – Ooh, that’s fun! I would describe the hero, Simeon, as rugged, intense, hurting, strong, and caring. My kind of guy!

Perhaps you could send him over the channel to me Misty!

I think your answer deserves a ticket off the island, what do you think readers?

And now to wrap things up

I have really enjoyed my time with you Misty. It’s been entertaining. Thank you, so much, Misty, for being such a good sport.  It has been a delight sharing my couch with you and I hope you have a successful blog tour.

Misty – Thank you! It’s been so much fun!

Let’s all give Misty a hearty clap, yes and wave those flags too, in fact, wave anything you like – well within reason 🙂 You’ve been a wonderful audience.

Because Misty is a lovely lady she has a GIVEAWAY for you, my dear readers. All you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of my post and enter. Easy peasy. And if you are interested in purchasing Misty’s book the link is here:

About the Book

This Treacherous Journey(2)Title: This Treacherous Journey

Author: Misty M. Beller

Genre: Christian historical romance

Release Date: February 6, 2018

The Treacherous Journey

Widowed and with child, Emma Malcom is fleeing from the reward offered for her arrest. She’s innocent of the dirty dealings her deceased husband orchestrated, but the angry townspeople didn’t stop to listen to her defence before she narrowly escaped with her life. Now, she and her twin brother, Joseph, must battle the mountain wilderness of the Rockies to reach Canada and the clean start she craves. But when a fall from the rocky cliff leaves Joseph wounded and weak, could the strange mountain man they encounter be God’s gift to see them to safety?

The Mountain man

Simeon Grant makes bad choices. His deceased wife and twin babies are lost to him now because of his reckless decisions, and the penance he pays by living alone in this mountain wilderness is only a small piece of what he thinks he deserves. When a city woman, heavy with child, appears on his doorstep with her injured brother, her presence resurrects the memories he’s worked so hard to forget. And when she asks for his help to travel deeper into the mountain country, he can’t help wonder why God would force him to relive the same mistakes he’s already suffered through. Or maybe taking these two to safety could be the way to redeem himself.

Will they overcome?

But when their travels prove more treacherous than he imagined, Simeon finds himself pressing the limits of his ability to keep Emma and her brother safe. Can he overcome the past that haunts him to be the man she needs? Will Emma break through the walls around Simeon’s heart before it’s too late, or will the dangers of these mountains be the end of them all?
